FAQ

The questions schools ask first.

Grouped by topic. If yours isn't here, talk to us — we'll add it.

General

What is School Console?

One platform for running a campus end to end — 28 modules from admissions to alumni, on web and mobile. Built by Genteel Infosystem Pvt. Ltd. since 2018, used by 100+ institutions and over 1.2 Lakh+ students.

Who is it for?

K-12 schools, colleges (UG/PG), universities (autonomous, multi-campus, affiliating), and coaching / training institutes. Each has a dedicated solution page: School ERP · College ERP · University ERP · Coaching.

How do you compare to Fedena / Teachmint / Edumarshal / others?

We deliberately don't run comparison ads. Here's what's verifiably different about us: per-customer separate physical databases (most competitors share one database with a row-level customer filter), five shipped AI features with a per-feature kill switch and audit log, and an 8-12 week implementation methodology with documented sign-off gates. Best test: ask each vendor to demo on your data and time the implementation contract.

Do you do classroom training?

Yes — included in implementation. Role-based tracks, train-the-trainer model, recorded library. See /why-us/training.

Where's your office?

Genteel Infosystem Pvt. Ltd., 2nd Floor, D-41, D Block, Sector 59, Noida, Uttar Pradesh 201301. Phone: 0120-4919234.

Procurement & commercials

How much does it cost?

Pricing varies by institution size, modules in scope, and implementation length. We don't publish list pricing because the variability is real — a 300-student coaching institute and a 3 000-student college have very different needs and very different prices. Request a demo and we'll give you a written quote within 5 business days.

Annual subscription or one-time licence?

Annual subscription per school per year, payable yearly or quarterly. No multi-year lock-in beyond what's written in your contract. Implementation is a one-time fee, separate from subscription.

Can we get a written quote for an RFP / tender?

Yes — we respond to written RFPs. Email the RFP to contact@schoolconsole.net with subject "RFP / tender — [your institution]". Response in 5–10 business days depending on RFP complexity. We have boilerplate answers to most common procurement questions.

Do you offer a free trial?

Not a self-serve trial — every customer goes through a real implementation, which takes 8–12 weeks. But the demo we run on your data is no-cost, no-commitment. Book a demo first; trial vs. paid is decided after.

Can we exit if the product doesn't work out?

Yes. Your contract specifies the notice period (typically 90 days). On exit we provide a full data export of your school's account in CSV + JSON, and your separate database is wiped on confirmation. We've never refused an exit request.

Implementation

How long does implementation take?

Typical 1 500–2 500 student K-12 school: 8 to 12 weeks. College of 3 000+: 12 to 16 weeks. We split implementation into six phases with named owners and acceptance gates. See /why-us/implementation.

Who does the data import?

We do. Your existing data — students, staff, classes, fees, attendance history — flows from spreadsheets / database exports / vendor extracts into your new School Console account. We produce a written reconciliation report so you know exactly what came in and what didn't.

Can we keep our existing fee structures and class hierarchy?

Yes. Configuration is per-school: class structure, grading scale, report-card template, fee heads + discounts, communication channels per event. All parameterised, not hardcoded.

What happens after go-live?

Daily check-in calls for the first 4 weeks. Weekly for weeks 5–12. Then monthly with quarterly business reviews. Your Customer Success Manager is your direct line throughout. See /why-us/service.

Security & data

Where does our data live?

Each customer institution gets its own dedicated database. (For a multi-branch trust or a university with affiliated colleges, all their schools/colleges share that one customer database; the isolation boundary is the customer organisation.) For Indian customers, default region is an Indian data centre. For specific data-residency requirements (state-mandated, university policy), per-customer region selection is part of the implementation contract.

Is our data ever mixed with another customer's?

No. Architectural isolation: separate database, separate connection string, separate backups, separate encryption keys. A bug in our code path can't return another customer's data — there's no shared connection to query. See /product/security.

Are you DPDP-Act 2023 ready?

Yes — per-customer data residency, consent registry per parent/student, right-to-erasure runbook with DPO approval, audit log on every entity. Public DPDP grievance-officer page lands in v1.5 (named officer + email).

Have you been audited / pen-tested?

Internal security review every quarter. Third-party penetration test annually. We disclose the test scope and remediation summary to customers under NDA on request. Responsible-disclosure programme is live at /legal/security.

What about uptime?

99.9% uptime SLA. High-availability database replication across multiple data centres, automated backups every 4 hours with 30-day retention, point-in-time recovery within 7 days. Incident post-mortems shared with affected customers within 5 business days.

Mobile app

How many apps do parents / staff need to install?

One. The same install serves parents, students, teachers, drivers, admins, security, alumni — ten role experiences in one app. The app reads your role on login and renders the right home screen. See /product/mobile.

Does it work offline?

Yes — the parent app and portal are offline-first. Last-seen attendance, fee balance, pickup ETA are cached locally. Writes (leave requests, attendance corrections) queue and sync when the network returns. See our blog post on offline-first.

Android only, or iOS too?

Both — Android and iOS, same feature set. Native push notifications on both platforms.

Do parents need to create an account?

No. The school admin enrols the student; the parent gets an SMS / WhatsApp invitation with a one-tap OTP login. No password to remember on first use; OTP can be re-issued any time.

AI features

Which AI features are live today?

Five: AI Quiz Generator, AI Answer Evaluator, AI Form Filler (Aadhaar/PAN/Passport/Marksheet/Birth Certificate), AI Lesson Recommender, AI Announcement Drafter. See /product/ai.

Whose AI model do you use?

Yours, if you want it that way. BYOK — bring your own key for OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini. Configured per school, per feature. We also offer a Platform Default (our key, our model selection) and a NoOp adapter (AI off).

How do you stop runaway AI cost?

Four guardrails: per-feature kill switch (fail-CLOSED), daily + monthly quota with pre-flight check, full audit log of every call, usage dashboard with forecast. If a feature hits the quota, the next call is denied with an audit row — not made.

Does AI ever auto-act?

No. Every AI feature has a trust-gate review — AI suggests, a human approves before anything ships. Marks aren't applied until the teacher clicks Apply; circulars aren't sent until the writer clicks Publish.

Integrations

Does it integrate with our payment gateway?

Probably yes. Live adapters: Razorpay, PayU, CCAvenue, HDFC SmartHub, Paytm, PhonePe. New gateways take about 2 days given API docs. See /product/integrations.

Biometric devices?

Live adapters: essl, Realtime, ZKTeco, Matrix. RFID readers: Matrix, Suprema, HID Global. Per-school configuration, swap vendor without code change.

GPS / vehicle tracking?

Live: Teltonika, Jimi (Concox), Queclink, and AIS-140 compliant devices. Multi-protocol gateway service ingests live location and surfaces it on the driver + parent apps.

WhatsApp / SMS / Email?

One communication engine handles all channels. Adapters live for: Gupshup (WhatsApp), Twilio, MSG91, SendGrid, Amazon SES, FCM, APNs. Channel routing + consent gates + quiet hours configurable per event.

Don't see your vendor?

Email contact@schoolconsole.net with the API docs. Most adapters ship in 2–5 days.
